“Hydroponic”

One method of enhancing the environmental sustainability of the workplace is through the implementation of greening initiatives. One such approach is the utilisation of hydroponic techniques, which offer a practical, efficient and high-quality alternative to traditional planting methods. The types of vegetables that have been planted include mustard greens, kale and spinach.

The implementation of hydroponic planting has prompted numerous employees to consider the possibility of incorporating similar techniques into their domestic gardening practices.

“Concern for Early Childhood Education”

The company’s concern for its surrounding environment is one of the obligations that every company in Indonesia must fulfill. In Indonesia, the concern for the surrounding environment is referred to as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). According to Law No. 40 of 2007 on Limited Liability Companies, CSR is the commitment of a company to participate in sustainable economic development to improve the quality of life and the environment, benefiting the company itself, the local community, and society in general.

One of the social concerns of PT. Astom Indonesia for its surrounding environment is the importance of early childhood education for children in the Sukaresmi Village area. Early childhood education is a form of educational implementation that emphasizes laying the foundation for physical growth and development (fine and gross motor coordination), intelligence (thinking ability, creativity, emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence), socio-emotional (attitudes, behaviors, and religion), language and communication, in accordance with the uniqueness and stages of development experienced by young children (Adalilla, S, 2010).

As a form of application of this concern, PT. Astom Indonesia, together with the Pertiwi Foundation in Sukaresmi Village, has assisted in providing facilities and equipment for the Kober Tunas Mekar XIII early childhood education center in Pegaulan Village, Sukaresmi, to enable its operation. The local community, especially parents in Pegaulan Village, feels greatly helped by this initiative, as it contributes to the development of their children’s education in the village.

Concern for the surrounding environment and others is not only carried out as an obligation based on regulations but also driven by the desire to make the environment and society better. Therefore, PT. Astom Indonesia’s management always encourages all its employees to have a sense of concern and to apply it, even with small actions, which can still be useful for the environment and others.

“Alert to Fire, Fire Extinguished, DAMKAR Jaya Prosperous”

PT Astom Indonesia is committed to fulfilling the provisions of relevant laws and regulations and enhancing security within the company environment. In accordance with the Minister of Manpower’s Decree No. 186 of 1999 concerning Fire Response Units in the Workplace, one of the company’s obligations is to form an emergency response team. Therefore, PT Astom Indonesia provides Advanced Firefighter Class C training to workers who already hold a Class D Firefighter Training certificate.

The training was conducted by Lentera Safety and took place over a three-week period in October 2019, with sessions held on Fridays and Saturdays, the 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th. A total of 11 individuals participated in the training, representing various departments within the company:

The training program for firefighters, classified as “Class C,” encompasses the following key topics: equipment maintenance, fire hazard mitigation techniques, including the use of fire hydrants for extinguishing fires, and first aid (P3K) procedures and simulations.

“Safety from us and for us”

Traffic accidents are a matter of concern for all parties, especially every company in Bekasi Regency. In a previous Safety Riding event at PT Astom Indonesia, the police stated that the majority of accident victims are employees of a company. Additionally, he stated that work-related accidents typically originate from violations committed by motor vehicle operators.

Incomplete motor vehicle documents, vehicles that do not meet the standards set by the vehicle manufacturer, and violations of safety regulations in motor vehicles are examples of traffic violations.

In light of these considerations, the P2K3 Team of PT Astom Indonesia devised a program pertaining to traffic safety awareness among the workforce. One aspect of this program is the inspection of motor vehicles belonging to PT Astom Indonesia employees. The objective of the program is to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents or violations experienced by PT Astom Indonesia employees due to incomplete documentation or non-standard vehicle conditions in accordance with safety regulations. The motor vehicle inspection encompasses an assessment of the vehicle’s documentation, driver’s license, and safety equipment, including the condition of tires, mirrors, helmets, turn signals, and headlights. This process will be ongoing to ensure that safety objectives, particularly those pertaining to traffic safety, are met and that workers are safeguarded from accidents or violations.

“Together with Family, Everything is Achieved”

Harmony in the relationship among workers in a company is one of the key factors that greatly influences the development of the company. One way to improve harmony among employees is through events such as the Family Gathering organized by PT. Astom Indonesia. This event is held annually by the company and is attended by all employees of PT. Astom Indonesia along with their families.

The PT. Astom Indonesia Family Gathering in 2019 took place on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Go Wet Water Park, Tambun, and was attended by around 500 participants, consisting of employees and their families. The Family Gathering featured various activities, such as children’s competitions, door prize giveaways, and free time where employees and their families could enjoy the facilities and attractions at Go Wet Water Park, Tambun.

During the event, all participants appeared to be happy and engaged in socializing with other employees and their families. The company hopes that such interactions will continue to foster strong and harmonious relationships, not only during the Family Gathering but also in the workplace and the surrounding community.

“Blessings of Ramadan”

In addition to the distinctive iftar (fast-breaking) dishes consumed during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, the blessings of this sacred period are numerous. Another highly anticipated aspect of Ramadan is the opportunity to break the fast in the company of family, relatives, or colleagues. The act of breaking the fast together can serve as a means of strengthening bonds with colleagues or fellow students. In order to enhance harmony and foster relationships among employees, PT Astom Indonesia held a joint iftar event for all employees and invited orphans and underprivileged children.

The iftar event was held on Friday, May 24, 2019, and included a number of activities, such as a sermon delivered by Ustad Lili Gozali, the distribution of donations to orphans, and the consumption of the iftar meal together, which was provided by the company.

The practice of breaking the fast together offers a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge, engage in open social interactions within the company environment, and reflect on the Ramadan momentum to improve oneself and avoid futile actions. Additionally, it serves to enhance cooperation among individuals and departments.

“Sharing Happiness with PT. Astom Indonesia”

Social service activities are a routine undertaking undertaken by all employees, the Employee Cooperative, the labor union, and the Prosperity Council of An Nur Mosque (PT Astom Indonesia). At the conclusion of each year, a portion of the collective blessings are set aside for social service activities, which encompass the provision of material assistance in the form of clothing and food, as well as the dissemination of joy and moral support to the community in each locale.

This initiative was established with the objective of fostering a sense of responsibility towards the underprivileged community, including orphanages, Islamic boarding schools, impoverished individuals, and areas affected by natural disasters. These activities are conducted by representatives from PT Astom Indonesia at the beginning of each year. In the year 2019, the social service was conducted in Sumber Jaya village, Sumur, Banten on Saturday, January 26th.

At that time, the Baksos Team distributed aid to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami, and visited an orphanage for orphaned and abandoned children at Pondok Pesantren in Padegelang, Banten. Assistance was provided to the orphaned and abandoned children.

There are numerous insights to be gained from social service activities. These include the broadening of social knowledge and awareness, the formation of attitudes and personalities, the fostering of high moral standards, the inspiration of new ideas, the development of personalities and mutual care, the experiencing of the beauty of sharing with others, and the realization of happiness through the beneficial sharing of resources.

It is hoped that each year will see all employees, the employee cooperative, the labor union, and the Prosperity Council of An Nur Mosque (PT Astom Indonesia) remain steadfast in organizing social service activities and able to increase donations for those in need.
